Overview

A product rebrand and a platform build, at the same time.

Jacob Electric Group was rebranding into Worldview Pro and needed a product to match: a web platform with mobile apps, built from an MVP that had proved the idea but not the architecture.

I planned the APIs and infrastructure, built the front-end, and coordinated the mobile team. From 2023 I led the distributed engineering team as Senior Software Developer.

The problem
An MVP codebase that could not carry a real user base.
A rebrand mid-build, so the design language changed under the team.
Real-time video and messaging requirements with a small team.
Engineers in three time zones and no shared process.
The approach
Rebuild the API layer first, keep the MVP front-end alive until parity.
Freeze the brand system before rebuilding screens.
Use Twilio and Agora for real-time, own everything else.
Written daily updates and code review as the only fixed rituals.
What we did

Five phases over three years.

Infrastructure first, then feature parity, then the new brand, then scale.

1
Architecture and infrastructure
AWS environments, CI, and a new Laravel API designed for the target load.
Dec 2021 – Mar 2022
2
Feature parity
Rebuilt the MVP feature set on the new API in Nuxt.js.
Mar – Aug 2022
3
Rebrand rollout
New design system applied across web and mobile as Jacob Electric Group became Worldview Pro.
Aug – Dec 2022
4
Real-time features
Video calls and messaging through Agora and Twilio, with fallbacks.
2023
5
Team leadership
Sprint planning, code review and mentoring a distributed team; scaling and maintenance.

Worldview Pro launched on web, iOS and Android under the new brand and has been maintained and scaled since. The team runs on written updates and code review rather than meetings.
